For the first time in history, two Spaniards will simultaneously lead the rankings of the ATP and WTA, with Rafael Nadal and Garbiñe Muguruza respectively.

Rafael Nadal, who will be playing the semi-finals of the U.S Open in New York, secured the leadership  with Roger Federer’s defeat against Juan Martin del Potro in the quarterfinals. The Argentinian will be his rival in the penultimate round of the tournament. Nadal fans dream of a Spanish final, as the revelation of the tournament, Pablo Carreño, will face in the other semi-final, with South African Kevin Anderson.

Garbiñe Muguruza, in the other hand reached the world stage for the first time in his career, despite being eliminated from the tournament.

After Nadal victories at Roland Garros and Muguruza at Wimbledon Spain tennis has confirmed that 2017 is definitely a prolific year for tennis.
