Spain arrest “radicalised” Moroccan man in Madrid

A Moroccan man, 32, is said to have been arrested yesterday in a dawn raid in central Madrid.

The arrested man apparently has been “highly radicalised,” and the government said they found a large collection of extreme Islamic material in his home in Madrid, including a manual for suicide bombers.

The Spanish police have also arrested two other Moroccan men who lived in the apartment with him.

Images caught on camera showed armed police in riot gear raiding the apartment building before dawn on Tuesday, and men dressed in white robes and helmets were held to the ground and handcuffed outside the apartment block.

The government have announced that the arrested man had an extremely dangerous profile, which is said to be similar to others who have carried out recent attacks in the U.K. and France.

The Spanish government said he has previously tried to organise and recruit others to carry out Islamist terror attacks in Spain.
