High-tech, stylish and truly inspiring – welcome to El Studio de Creatividad. This stunning space is what happened when one of the most exclusive and chic names in ceramics and interiors met with one of the most inspiring and experimental names in gastronomy.3-1

In early 2016, world-renowned, Spanish master chef Quique Dacosta partnered with international interiors manufacturer Porcelanosa to create a personalised creative kitchen studio at his three Michelin Star restaurant in Dénia, Alicante.

Inspiration came from a culinary concept developed by Dacosta himself, “Los paisajes de Dacosta”, “Dacosta’s landscapes”, that was adapted to the design, which merges all objects – tables, ceilings and walls – until the boundaries between space, function and decoration disappear. While other key considerations to the design were innovation and functionality: “We’ve created a multi-purpose kitchen: a futuristic space when the doors are closed, an extremely practical kitchen when all the doors are open”, says the Valencian chef.2-1

However, the most important aspects of the studio are the cutting-edge materials and facilities: “The technology applied to this kitchen is what sets it apart”, says Dacosta. The showpiece feature is the KRION Black central island, which will be Dacosta’s canvas on which to create and exhibit his gastronomic masterpieces. The minimalist style used here was a deliberate intention, in a bid to force the focus onto the dishes created rather than have the surroundings cause any distractions.

The surrounding walls feature columns of retractable units decorated in a bas-relief, finish in KRION Snow White, on one side and a mirrored finish on the other. The units comprise of shelving and cupboards and support a wash basin; a further testimony to the fusion of innovation and functionality.4-1

Yet one of the most striking features is the ceiling – a compilation of white slats made of KRION Blanco, an uber-contemporary design that sets off the entire studio. Aesthetically pleasing but once again functional, the ceiling design allows for the necessary but unsightly installations in a kitchen – smoke filtration, lighting and audio systems – to be hidden.

Excitingly, following the initial success of the partnership between the two parties, Dacosta has recently been selected as an ambassador for Porcelanosa and will be helping with the creation of a new exclusive line of kitchens, which combine style and practicality. El Studio de Creatividad then offers just a small snippet of what to expect from this formidable new partnership and their exquisite creations. We looking forward to seeing more soon!
