Following days of warnings about freezing temperatures, snow has finally fallen in the early hours of the morning in some areas of the Costa Blanca including Jávea and Dénia, marking the first snow in these parts in over 35 years. Snow has covered the mountain areas around Montgó and has fallen across the beaches with locals in these areas reporting it as the heaviest case of snow in nearly a century since 1926. The snow started to fall at sea level in the early hours of the morning, with temperatures as low as -1 ° C reported over night. snow in costa blanca

Many schools and businesses have been forced to close unexpectedly as a result. Some roads in the area have also been declared unsafe and have been closed, including the AP-7 between Dénia and Jávea, where dozens of drivers were trapped this morning due to dangerous conditions. Buses services have also been halted.

The low temperatures are expected to sweep across other parts of Spain today with reports of snow in the Balearic Islands and Andalusia. snow in costa blanca snow in javea and denia
