Due to the success of the National Pinchos and Tapas competition, now in it’s 13th year, Valladolid is also hosting the First World Tapas Competition. The competition which is managed by the Fernando Perez International Cooking School runs until November 12th, 2017.
The world tapas event is being attended by 12 international chefs spanning ten international countries. Running alongside the competition is the International Tapas Festival when visitors to Valladolid can check out the tapas scene and taste it’s culinary delights. Visitors to the area will also be able to try the chef’s variations from other autonomous regions in Spain. Just follow the Valladolid tapas festival map and you will discover the best restaurants along the route.
Recently the National Tapas competition, also run in Valladolid until the 7th November, was won by Igor Rodríguez Sanz. Igor is a chef at the aptly named Ham restaurant in Mallorca of the Balearic Islands. The Ensaimada de Cangrejo de Río or Crayfish of the River Pastry received the accolade of the “Best Pincho in Spain” winning the chef 6,000 euros.
The Concurso de Pinchos y Tapas by judged by a jury of top gastronomy experts and resided over by Alberto Chicote. Chicote is a famous Spanish chef also known for a Spanish version of Hell’s Kitchen, Pesadilla en la cocina.
