Thousands of runners from all over the world gathered in Madrid last Sunday, March 26th to participate in the Media Maratón, a half marathon organized by the leading telecommunications company Movistar.
This year’s event marked the 22nd edition of the race, and runners were eager to test their endurance and compete against others in this popular annual event. The race started at 9:10 am in the heart of Madrid’s historical district, with the starting line located on the Paseo de la Castellana. Participants took off towards the centre of the city, passing by some of Madrid’s most iconic landmarks, including the Museo del Prado, and the Parque del Retiro. As they made their way through the city under radiant weather, runners were cheered on by crowds of spectators, creating a festive and energetic atmosphere throughout the course.
The race was divided into several categories, including men’s and women’s individual races, as well as team relays. In the individual races, runners competed to finish the 21-kilometre course in the shortest possible time, with medals and prizes awarded to the top three finishers in each category. The team relay category, on the other hand, required teams of four runners to complete the course, with each member running a 5-kilometre segment of the race.
The Media Maratón organized by Movistar is one of the most popular and well-regarded half marathons in Spain, attracting runners from all over the world to participate in the annual event.
