Colour doesn’t just enhance a space—it defines how we experience it. At Sonia Verdú Studio, colour is used not simply as a visual tool, but as an emotional one. When we spoke to interior designer Sonia Verdú about her approach, she shared how colour shapes mood, brings warmth, and transforms everyday rooms into soulful, deeply personal spaces.

“Colour speaks to us,” Sonia explains. “It surrounds us and influences how we feel. Each tone has the potential to calm, energise, or connect us to the essence of a space.”

Colours That Embrace or Energise
Sonia describes warm tones like terracotta, ochre, or dusty pink as colours that offer comfort and intimacy—ideal for creating enveloping, welcoming interiors.
On the other hand, cool tones such as sea blues, sage greens, or soft greys create a sense of order, calm, and connection to nature. “They’re perfect for homes by the coast or for bedrooms and bathrooms, where we seek peace and balance,” she adds.
Neutral tones—like whites, creams, and beiges—let light flow freely and visually open up the space. Sonia often uses them as a base to highlight natural materials and handcrafted details.

And for those moments when a room needs a spark, Sonia introduces vibrant accents—gold, coral, or olive green—to add personality and energy, always applied with balance and intent.
More Than Aesthetic: A Design Language of Emotion
For Sonia Verdú Studio, colour is never just about trends. It’s about emotional impact. “Colour helps define the identity of a space,” she says. “It guides the eye, creates atmosphere, and tells a story.”
In her projects, colour is used to evoke experiences—a kitchen in navy can evoke the sea; a living room in earth tones might ground you in calm. Every palette is chosen not only for how it looks but for how it makes someone feel.

A Coastal Kitchen Designed with Feeling
One of Sonia’s recent projects is a standout example of her colour-driven approach. The brief: design a kitchen in a coastal apartment that captures the spirit of Mediterranean living.
The palette began with a deep sea blue, softened with dusty pink, and finished with brushed gold details for a refined, contemporary touch. Porcelain tiles in soft sand and ocean tones brought texture and visual depth while echoing the surrounding landscape.
Sonia’s choice of materials and colours worked in harmony to create a fresh, breathable space—where natural light flows and every element feels connected to the coast.
“The kitchen isn’t just beautiful,” she says, “it lives and breathes the essence of where it’s located. It invites you to feel calm, energised, and completely at home.”

Sonia Verdú believes that when it comes to interiors, colour should never be an afterthought. “It’s not just about what looks good,” she tells us. “It’s about what feels right.”
At Sonia Verdú Studio, colour is treated as a central part of every design—woven in with light, texture, and personal intention. It’s what helps her transform homes into spaces that don’t just reflect who we are—but how we want to live.
