The Kempinski Art Series welcomes the renowned Italian Artist, Annabella Dugo on the 14 July

On the 14 July Kempinski Hotel Bahía will inaugurate an exhibition by Annabella Dugo as part of its continuing Kempinski Art Series. The event will open with a piano recital by Alessandro Lago, before guests enjoy a cocktail and an opportunity to view the works which form part of a collection called “Beauty and Harmony. That will be the world to come”.

Annabella Dugo was born and has lived for most of her life in the most beautiful and historic part of the city of Naples, the II Historic Centre.

The 1950s and 1960s saw her engaged in work and studies with an artistic flair. She attended the Liceo Artistico in the historic Palazzo Gravina on Via Costantinopoli.
After graduation, Annabella enrolled at the Academy of Dramatic Arts where, at the end of the three-year period, she won the scholarship named after Giuseppe Pomara. At the same time, Annabella attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples where she graduated from the painting course, and began her painting activity with informal canvases.

In 1981 she moved to Vicenza, in the Veneto region, where she held two very important solo shows, one in Bruno Ghelfi’s gallery in Verona and the other in Galleria San Giorgio by Mario Lucchesi in Mestre.

In Vicenza she came into contact with numerous artists, poets and writers, scholars and protectors of Venetian cultural life such as Alvise Zorzi, Giovanni Barbisan, Bino Rebellato, Virgilio Scapin, Mario Albanese and Gino Nogara. Here Annabella became the holder of the chair of Painting Discipline of the newly established Liceo Artistico Statale.

She is amongst the founders of Gruppo Creativo, a group of eight artists from the Veneto area who, although independently conducting pictorial research of different matrixes, present interesting points of stylistic similarity. The Group is active nationally with a series of exhibitions of considerable prestige.

In 1990 she became a School Director for Art Education, assuming the presidency of the Liceo Artistico in Schio and the outer area of Vicenza. The following precious, yet hard years, helped propel Annabella towards new and increasingly stimulating experiences.

In 2019 Annabella exhibited in the Palacio de la Obras de Napoli, and she considers this to be a highlight of her career. She set up several solo shows and participated in numerous exhibitions nationwide. Today Annabella Dugo paints in her bright attic in her adopted city where she continues to experiment and produce large-scale works, retracing the stages of her life and her beloved work: the painting that has given meaning to her life.
