Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, many things have been cancelled – including weddings. However, as Spain moves into the New Normality, love is in the air again, if it ever went away, that is! In fact, this challenging time has taught us all that life should be lived to the full, so why not take the stress out of your big day and entrust the planning for your wedding to Luisa and her friendly, professional team at The Wedery, Costa Blanca?
This Spanish enterprise began as a bakery in 1990, and when that grew, Luisa formed Dalua, a catering company which provides food for corporate events, celebrations, weddings and other functions in Alicante province and Murcia. Dalua has specialised in catering for and planning weddings for Spanish couples for 15 years.

The Wedery was created as a complete destination package for people who wished to marry abroad. As is explained in this blog post, Spain is an ideal destination for weddings, particularly the Costa Blanca, with an average of 320 days a year of sunshine. There are spectacular vistas over the Mediterranean, as well as secluded traditional fincas close to Nature out in the campo. Most of all though, the Spanish love a good party, and someone like Luisa, who has many years of experience in event planning, and has the fiesta duende in her blood, is the perfect person to deliver a fabulous wedding experience you will never forget.
Why The Wedery?
Luisa explained:
We wanted a memorable English name, to distinguish between the two companies. Duala is primarily a Spanish catering company which also organizes Spanish weddings. The Wedery is our international company, covering the rest of Europe. We feel it’s more professional to separate the two branches of the business, and the name is quirky and memorable, and immediately makes you think of weddings!
The Wedery has at its disposal a professional team of experts in catering and event planning, as well as 4 exclusive wedding venues across Alicante Province and Murcia, and one in Castilla La Mancha, plus another 5 venues. Furthermore, they also look to partner with new, suitable venues, so whatever type of wedding you have in mind, Luisa and her friendly, efficient team can make it happen.
From your first contact with Luisa, until you head off on honeymoon, you will be involved in every aspect of the planning, as The Wedery team collaborate to organise the Mediterranean-themed wedding of your dreams. If you wish, they will even organize pre-wedding treats for you and your guests, including dinner on the beach, theatre or music concerts, day trips – if you want it, they can do it!
If all this sounds more like a holiday than the hard work of organising the happiest day of your life, well done! You have grasped the concept of what it’s like having every last detail of your perfect day planned down to the last detail, while you relax and enjoy building the your dream with Luisa and her team.
With such a personal service, it may surprise you to know that The Wedery can cope with up to 6 weddings in a day, so it’s unlikely they will be unable to supervise your special day. They normally manage around 160 weddings in a year, yet every single wedding they do is individual, whether it’s a small, intimate celebration for 15 or 20 people, or a big affair for 600 – their record number of guests so far. I asked Luisa how this can be possible, and she told me:
Over the years, we have built up a good network of contacts and suppliers who know how we work, and what we require from those who work with us. We trust them, and they trust us, and between us, we can plan several weddings at a time, while making sure that every last detail is covered for our couples and their guests. Each wedding is very special to us, as well as the people involved, and we want to make it perfect for them.
Like every other business in Spain, the Covid-19 outbreak has affected The Wedery, and they have had to move all the destination weddings to 2021. However, Dalua has managed to retain 40 weddings for Spanish couples, and the team are very grateful they have been able to do that. It’s traumatic when a special day you have been planning and looking forward to has to be cancelled through no fault of your own, but the mood is positive at the Wedery.
I asked Luisa what her plans were, for the rest of this year and into the future, and she said:
I want to offer people all over the world the opportunity to experience the gorgeous wedding that we can do. I want to showcase our culture, our gastronomy, and above all, our wonderful weather. Spain is famous for all of these things, and I want that The Wedery to be a famous destination company, because we can bring all this, and more, into your perfect destination wedding. This is my dream and my goal.
If you want to experience the perfect wedding, in a stunning setting, contact Luisa, and see how she can make all your dreams come true, and give you a truly unforgettable experience you will remember for many years to come. You deserve the very best on your special day, and the team at The Wedery can deliver everything you could ever dream of, and more. They are waiting to help you celebrate in style.
