Restaurante Casafina, the signature restaurant of Hotel El Pilar de Andalucía, offers an ideal setting to enjoy Mediterranean flavours in the very heart of Estepona. Just steps from the hotel’s grand entrance and opening onto the famous Plaza de las Flores, the restaurant has become a true meeting point for food lovers. The menu celebrates Andalusian roots while introducing refined touches from the chef, and the setting itself captures the essence of southern Spain: elegant, lively and warm.
The ambience of the square is captivating. Surrounded by historic façades and filled with the life of Estepona’s old town, dining here feels like stepping into a timeless scene. From the inside, the restaurant opens directly onto tables set in the square, so the atmosphere flows seamlessly from one space to the other. The background music carries across the plaza and the gentle murmur of people dining creates the sense of being in a documentary of how lovely Andalusia can be.
On the evening we visited, the square was buzzing with locals and visitors alike, each table a snapshot of Estepona’s summer life. It was easy to see why Casafina has earned its reputation as one of the town’s most sought-after dining spots. With the local community returning time and again and tourists eager to secure a table during the busy season, the restaurant’s popularity is clear. We found ourselves looking forward to the experience even before the first dish arrived, knowing we were about to enjoy an evening that combined atmosphere, hospitality and cuisine in perfect balance.
The meal began with a roasted beetroot salad paired with goat’s cheese, grapefruit and pistachio. It was a dish that played with texture and contrast, fresh and balanced in every bite. The pil pil prawns followed, sizzling and generous, made even better with the assortment of breads and rich local olive oil that encouraged us to linger over the starters. To accompany, a José Pariente Verdejo white wine provided the perfect crispness against the richness of the food.
For the mains we chose both land and sea. The lubina was tender and delicately grilled with garlic and lemon, its lightness lifted by a side of crisp sautéed vegetables. The Spanish beef entrecôte, thick and full of flavour, offered a more indulgent alternative, served with potatoes. Both showed the kitchen’s respect for simplicity and quality.
To finish, we shared a raspberry millefeuille with ice cream. The pastry was crisp, the cream smooth, and the sharpness of the raspberry brought the meal to a satisfying close.
The service throughout the evening matched the food. Attentive and professional, the staff added to the sense of ease that makes dining here memorable. Casafina delivers not only a strong menu but also a sense of place, blending Estepona’s charm with Andalusian hospitality. For those seeking an evening that feels both refined and rooted in the local spirit, it is a restaurant worth seeking out.
