Oustau in Altea offers a gastronomical experience you’ll never forget

As many who have eaten at the Oustau in Altea have said after discovering this exquisite restaurant which has become one of the old town’s most emblematic places, this will such a memorable gastronomical experience that you may want to keep it secret.

Olivier Burri opened up the doors to this superb Mediterranean restaurant 20 years ago and today his place is one of the most visited and most elegant culinary corners in the area.

“During this long trajectory, I’ve relentlessly worked and searched day by day that innovation, creativity and quality in the dishes we serve become the brand of our house, a house that we hope you become to regard as your own,” says Olivier on Oustau’s website.

Your mouth simply savours the superb artistically created dishes that Olivier serves even before they are placed before you, and the quality and prices are a great surprise as well.

The restaurant is located in a beautiful area of Altea that transports you back a couple of centuries and when you arrive you enter the dining area through a narrow front entrance after which you will be pleased to find that the premises open up into a lovely restaurant with an alfresco option for the warmer weather.

“As a regular visitor to this restaurant, I have never been disappointed. Great!” says James1657 on Trip Advisor.

A huge percentage of the people that visit Oustau come back for more because they enjoy the experience, the wonderfully nice service delivered by the highly trained staff and the personable approach by Olivier, who is always there to ensure you are treated as family.

Many recommend the chicken liver salad or the shrimp pasta plate and the meat dishes will make your dining experience an unforgettable one.

During the summer and towards the end of the year holidays, it gets really busy, proof that Oustau is a must visit on your list of places to go to in Altea.

“The food and attention to detail were excellent, the head waiter was very attentive to us and we really could not fault our experience. As with many restaurants in Altea, they are hidden gems by way of available space inside, looking very small from the main street,” says another patron on Trip Advisor identified as prguru2015 from the United Kingdom.

And this person went on to describe “a beautifully lit courtyard garden with other indoor seating beyond. The dishes have film stars names which is fun. We will be back!”

The place is gorgeous and the staff fantastic, says Cass5333, who was delighted with the magnificent succulence of the “Gambas al ajo and a soup to start as well as fillet steaks for three, the crepe and helado for desert and a bottle of wine along with three soft drinks and two liquor coffees all for €80.”

KatjaAngel of Alicante, Spain, says this is “Lively place! Just a pleasant surprise to find something like this in my seven years living in Spain. Olivier, the host, is a marvellous person and a great host! Wonderful food! Great atmosphere! Friendly stuff! For sure a must go and try place! Many thanks!”

The ambience is welcoming, you’ll simply love it and the dishes are a gastronomical experience you’ll never forget.
