Masena restaurant offers a cuisine rich in ideas and flavours. The Chef explores all traditional and innovative dishes of the Mediterranean area, and the menu suggestions range from traditional Valencian paellas to elegant French dishes, such as the Chateaubriand, served on the hot stone, with a variety of sauces, or the Foie Gras, pan fried with Apple Jam, then reveals Iberian secrets and plays, in all the creations, with unexpected twists that turn the tasting into a unique experience.
Masena restaurant is situated in a beautifully converted finca between Jávea and Benitachell, on the Costa Blanca. The entrance to the restaurant leads to a romantic courtyard, with beautiful rustic surroundings, where drinks, before and after dining, are served. The restaurant is fully air conditioned, and the design preserved the many rustic features of the original finca, including the apparent solid wood beams.
The ambient is elegant, with crisp white linen tablecloths and comfortable seating. It is the ideal location for a romantic dinner for 2, as well as for a large private party, with seating of up to 100 inside, and 60 outside. The terrace is a wonderful place for alfresco dining, with the added benefit of a garden with children’s play area.
At Masena restaurant, the menu changes four times a year.
This is because the Chef only works with fresh, local market ingredients, first quality material, thus seasonal taste.
Chef Hamid Megrini Moujtahid, of Belgian father and Moroccan mother, came to Spain in the early 90’s to finish his chemistry degree and, during summers, to finance his studies working with Tómas Ramos at Los Remos Restaurant. He fell in love with this occupation, thus went to Paris to study cookery at the High College of French Cookery Ferrandi. After the degree, he came back to Spain working as Chef in Palma de Mallorca, Salamanca, Madrid, Barcelona, and, since the last ten years, at the Masena restaurant.
Among the specialties of the menu, we only mention a few that emphasise, above all, on the great blend of textures that Moujtahid is so famous for. From the Main Course, a highlight would be the the Duck Breast with Orange Raspberry Sauce. From the fish section, a must try combination is the Grated Cod Fish with Garlic Cream over Pan Fried Spinach and Piquillo Salsa with Shellfish, a stunning juxtaposition of iconic tastes from all around the Iberian peninsula – in a single plate.
And, as seasonal dish reflecting the flavours of the late Autumn, we warmly recommend the Artichoke and Seasonal Mushroom Risotto.
Masena restaurant offers a great variety of desserts – 16 choices, to be more exact, among which their unique Crême Brulée, or the Chocolate and Caramel Ingot with Strawberry Sorbet (image below), or the must try Cheese Ice Cream with Strawberry Coulis.
