The van killed 13 people and left more than 100 people injured. The Spanish police have described it as a terror attack.
The central boulevard in Barcelona runs 1.2km and was packed with the tourists. The area has reopened this morning after the attacks.
The second attack happened eight hours later in the resort town of Cambrils when an Audi A3 ploughed into pedestrians.
