While torrential rain and hurricane style winds swept across Costa Blanca this weekend, leaving a trail of devastation including floods and lengthy power outages. Coastal areas saw the worst of the weather, in particular the towns of Marina Alta and l’Alcoia seem to have been the worst affected, where winds exceeding 100 kilometers per hour and heavy rainfall above 100 l / m were recorded. Numerous roadblocks caused by landslides and falling trees, as well as damage to promenades were also reported in the area.
In Jávea, waves of around 6 meters have overcome the promenade, causing damage to nearby infrastructure and affecting several local leisure facilities. Roads have been left full of debris from fallen trees while parts of the beach are without sand. Over the weekend, the City Council’s Emergency Coordination Centre gathered to assess the flooding damage, consequently closing several roads to ensure the safety of local residents. storms Alicante storms spain floods Alicante
