Best Coves To Explore In Alicante That Will Capture Your Heart!

The Province of Alicante is brimming with coves to suit all tastes. These coves are true paradises of sun, nature, and crystal-clear waters. Here, we share our top list.

1. Cala Ferris in Torrevieja

Attention snorkel enthusiasts! You’ll fall in love with this cove as you immerse yourself in its transparent waters teeming with colorful fish and discover the secrets beneath the sea. It’s ideal for practicing this activity. Cala Ferris is located on the coast of Torrevieja and boasts dreamy palm trees that will enchant you, along with small sand dunes that add to its charm.

The presence of seagrass (Posidonia) on its shores demonstrates the natural and pristine state of this site, where you can bathe and relax while listening to the sound of the sea at your feet. The most precious aspect of this cove? Cala Ferris is one of the few places along the Vega Baja coastline without any buildings. It’s a completely natural spot, which is a true treasure in these times when places are often crowded.

In addition to the coastline, there is a dune cord with native vegetation that needs special care as it is endangered. That’s why it is protected by a barrier preventing access to the vegetation. Stay on the path and enjoy this Alicante paradise!

2. Cala Moraig in Benitachel

Cala Moraig is a 300-meter-long cove located in Poble Nou de Benitatxell, between Moraira and Jávea. When you look around, you’ll see huge cliffs and vegetation all around. And like most paradisiacal spots, you’ll need to park your vehicle and take a short hike to reach Cala Moraig.

It’s worth it because this cove, made up of gravel and with crystal-clear waters, is a beautiful place to spend the entire day. One thing to note: if you practice nudism, there’s a nudist area available at the left end. Cala Moraig is quite small, so we recommend arriving early in the morning to secure a good spot.

It offers facilities for people with disabilities, a first aid station, and even lifeguards to handle any eventuality. Don’t let the summer pass without visiting this spectacular cove!

3. Cala Tío Ximo in Benidorm

Cala Tío Ximo is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful spots in Alicante. It’s a cove about 70 meters long at the foot of the Sierra Helada and the northern coast. A must-visit for those who love snorkeling and water sports in general. Its steep cliffs are of exceptional beauty, and the waters have rocky bottoms.

We recommend this cove, with its mix of sand and stones, for those who are tired of crowded beaches like Levante and Poniente. It’s accessible by public bus and car, with parking available, surveillance, and the option to rent sun umbrellas and loungers for complete relaxation and enjoyment of the Mediterranean leisure. Have you already put it on your list? It’s a must-see!

4. Cala Cap Blanc in Moraira

Sunbathing, taking a refreshing swim, fishing, and diving—there are so many possibilities at Cala Cap Blanc! This cove is located in Marina Alta, better known as Punta Estrella.

The cliffs create a true Alicante oasis with viewpoints that will leave you breathless at the beauty of the landscapes. Something to note: from there, you can see the famous Peñón de Ifach located in Calpe, as well as the Sierra de Bernia and the Sierra de Toix.

The cove has rocky areas and may sometimes have sea urchins, so remember to bring water shoes to enjoy without any inconvenience.

It’s incredible that it’s not as crowded considering its beauty and small size. Cala Cap Blanc is only about 200 meters long. Nevertheless, in the summer, we suggest getting there early in the morning to fully enjoy it!

5. Coves of the Ecological Walk of Benissa

The coves along the Ecological Walk of Benissa are charming, especially if you want to go with your family and kids. As you walk along the path, you’ll come across different coves, each more beautiful than the last. If you want to enjoy them, wear comfortable footwear that you can easily get into the water with and walk comfortably.

Some coves are more accessible than others, so we advise you to go early and take your time to stroll and choose the one you like best. In total, there are 4 kilometers of coves that you can explore in about 3 hours.

Good news: they are pet-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend along without any problem! Cala del Mallorquí, Cala Les Bassetes, Cala Pinets, Cala de la Llobella, Cala Advocat, and Cala Balandrar. It’s impossible to choose just one as they are all incredibly beautiful!

The Costa Blanca, in the beautiful Province of Alicante, is filled with places of special charm. Millions of tourists visit it every year and return because there’s so much to discover. Some spots are more hidden than others, some more accessible than others, but all are uniquely beautiful. Prepare your beach umbrella, water shoes, and sunscreen, and enjoy these dreamlike coves!
